From 1st November 2024 at 5.00 p.m .we are pleased to present the two person exhibition of FRANCESCO BARBIERI e MICHELE GUIDARINI entitled “EPIC FAIL”.

It will be possible to visit the exhibition either by appointment by calling the number 338 – 4520080 and during the normal opening hours of the Gallery.

The word “fail,” along with its expressive variant “epic fail,” is used to describe situations of evident defeat, comedic errors, or failures so blatant that they transform into al- most triumphant events.

Recently failure has become so mainstream and viral that, swimming in the ocean of online content, “fails” manifest everywhere, ranging from comedic falls to bizarre accidents. This includes examples of refined hu- mor, where errors and misunderstandings become tools to challenge the studied perfection of pop culture and the obsession with flawless images on social media.

Artists, aware of this, have always used error, unpredict- ability, and chance as tools for exploration and creation.

In this exhibition, a perfect opportunity to take stock of the current state of their artistic explorations, Barbieri and Guidarini present paintings where error and imperfection are not only a reflection on the historical moment we are living but also transform into a sort of new visual vocab- ulary.

The search for a messy brushstroke—at times angry and disturbing, at others childlike and joyful—the care- lessly imprecise oil pastel details, and the deliberately dripped spray lines with dirty edges (in stark contrast to the pleasing decorative style that adorns many murals in increasingly depersonalized cities) are deliberate choices that construct a true aesthetic of conscious failure, openly contrasting with the fetishes of success and perfection at all costs imposed by today’s society.”
